Organizers: Aaron Ciechanover, Yinon Ben-Neriah, Ze’ev Ronai The workshop took place at Maison de France "Beit Tzarfat", on the Edmond J. Safra Campus (at Givat Ram) of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

RUBICON and the Israel Science foundation sponsored an International workshop of 250 participants from Israel, Europe, USA and Japan, which was organized by the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University. 50 invited speakers covered diverse aspects of the ubiquitin, UBL and the proteasome systems. Sessions included novel components of the proteasome, structure-function and analyses of ubiquitin-ubl molecules, cellular pathways based on ubiquitin-ubl modifications and the biology behind, ubiquitin-regulatory cascades and the participation of the UPS and UBL modifiers in ER Stress, Oncogenesis, Cell Cycle, Signaling and Hypoxia, Apoptosis and Autophagy, Inflammation, and Cancer. Many talks discussed new unpublished results, such as the discovery of new components in linear ubiquitination cascades. Students and postdocs, including RUBICON fellows, presented over 50 posters debated over late evening sessions.
