Notch group General description: Recent studies have shown that endocytosis and ubiquination play multiple roles during the Notch signalling pathway in both the signal-sending and the signal-receiving cell. In flies two ubiquitin ligases (Neur and Mib) and one deubiquinating enzyme (Faf) promote internalization of Delta1, one of the Notch ligands. Our project is to determine how ubiquitination and deubiquination affect the activation of the Notch receptor by the ligand Delta1 and control the cell-autonomous function of Delta1.
