Notch group General description: My PhD project involves the analysis of 2 ligands of the Notch receptor, Delta1 and Delta4. I will focus on the events occurring in the signal-sending cell, to determine how Delta1 regulates the physiology of the signal-sending cell on one hand, and the activation of the Notch receptor on the other. Delta1 has been already described to be the target of two E3 ubiquitin ligases, Neuralized and Mind Bomb. These enzymes seem to promote Delta endocytosis, and enable the ligand to activate the receptor. The cell-autonomous role of these ubiquitination steps in the signal-sending cell will be explored.
