General description: Trained as a chemist, areas of research interest and expertise include solid-phase peptide synthesis, the design and application of the synthetic peptide approach to antibody production, and the ubiquitin/ubiquitin-like protein pathways and their roles in cellular biochemistry. Dr Sheppard has co-authored some thirty research articles, is an active member and participant of several professional bodies, and holds an Honorary University Fellowship in the School of Biosciences, University of Exeter.
Role in RUBICON:
To establish close working relationships between BIOMOL and other Network Partners.
To develop, direct and coordinate BIOMOL’s scientific contribution to the Network ensuring that appropriate targets are set and goals attained.
To ensure the smooth integration of BIOMOL’s peptide, protein, and antibody production capabilities into the Network as a ‘core facility’ accessible to all Partners.
To work with all Partners to set up and develop a repository for reagents generated and for use within the Network. As an ISO9001:2000 accredited manufacturer, stockist and supplier of biochemical and immunological reagents for life science research, BIOMOL already has all necessary functions in place to ensure the smooth operation of such a facility.
