The RUBICON NoE had a successful plenary meeting with the participation of over 120 participants. The meeting was held at Sesimbra, Portugal during March 24 to 27, 2009.

In its third year, the Network has enlarged its membership and incorporated three young investigators that are internationally recognized and have made significant contributions to the field. The groups of Simona Polo (IFOM- FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology, Milan), Nico Dantuma (Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm) and Thorsten Hoppe (University of Cologne) joined the NoE in January 2009, thus expanding the expertise of the network in the fields of receptor endocytosis, DNA repair, Ub/UbL interacting domains, and introducing C. elegans as a new model organism. There was the presentation of 38 lectures and 63 posters with the latest achievements of the NoE. The social evenings gave opportunity to PhD students to interact with PIs, senior researchers, post-docs to discuss scientific issue related to their projects. The comments of the participants were very positive and everybody agree that the annual plenary meeting was the best occasion to know by firsthand the achievements of the RUBICON NoE.
