General description: The Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg (UHEI) is a public non-profit Research University that encompasses all aspects of sciences and humanities. It is consistently ranked among Europe's top universities, is a German Excellence University, and a founding member of the League of European Research Universities, the Coimbra Group, and the European University Association. Within the University of Heidelberg, the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) is an institute for research and higher education in basic and biomedical molecular biology. It hosts up to 13 research groups, headed by nine tenured professors and 4 junior group leaders. The ZMBH hosts around 240 researchers and staff from over 20 different countries. The recently formed strategic alliance between the Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH) and the Cell and Tumour Biology research programme of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is a cornerstone of Heidelberg Molecular Life Sciences.
