Colin Gordon's Group (»Add to Infobox)

Academic: MRC Human Genetics Unit, Edinburgh

Internet:  http://www.hgu.mrc.ac.uk/Research/Gordon

General description:
The purpose of the group’s research is to investigate how ubiquitin and ubiquitin like proteins regulate different intracellular processes in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. In each case evolutionary conserved proteins are studied so any insights gained in fission yeast should also be applicable in higher organisms.

Role in RUBICON:
Our group will be involved in dissecting the function of modification of proteins by the ubiquitin like protein Nedd8. In particular we will identify substrates for Nedd8 to identify which pathways are potentially regulated by Nedd8 modification, to identify Nedd8 interacting proteins and to dissect the function deneddylase activity in fission yeast.
