(»Add to Infobox)

The goal of the course was to provide an overview of the current research on the components of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), its mode of action, its involvement in the regulation of basic cellular process, as well as in inflammation and cancer.
The course included the historical background of the system, the current state of knowledge of the components of the system, their structure and mode of action, key examples for involvement of the system in regulating basic cellular processes, such as regulation of genome integrity (DNA damage and repair), control of cell cycle, regulation of transcription, oncogenesis and senescence and the involvement of UPS in inflammation and cancer.
We have the participation of 20 students (10 female and 10 male). 11 students came from 7 RUBICON laboratories; 2 more came from the INCA NoE; 1 came from the University of Texas and the other 6 were from Karolinska Institutet. In addition, there were around 10 post-docs from Karolinska that attended the morning lectures, and the Research Seminar open to the Karolinsca community had the presence of many more students, post-docs and PIs.
The social atmosphere of the course was proper for scientific discussions between the invited speakers and the students. The evaluation given by the students was excellent.
